Walk For Walgreens Dollars!

Please note-Walgreens did away with their Balance Rewards program for healthy choices as of 2021. 

 

Yes, that’s right!  Walgreens rewards you for making healthy choices -like walking or practicing yoga.

You may already know that you can earn rewards for buying certain items at Walgreens. But– did you know that you can also earn rewards for making healthy lifestyle and fitness choices?

Walgreens has replaced its Balance Rewards program with myWalgreens. With the old program, you would earn points that could be converted to dollars. Now, it’s dollar amounts you earn for healthy activities, filling prescriptions, and making purchases. 

 

Who doesn’t go to Walgreens?  And who doesn’t use a fitness tracker of some kind?  Use it to your advantage!

 

So, how do you get started?

You need a myWalgreens account first. You can sign up at the register when you visit the store, by downloading their Walgreens app, or by creating an online account on their website. It’s free for everyone to join.

Once you have an account, go online and link your device or app by choosing from the applicable choices they provide.  Unlike the previous Balance Rewards, the myWalgreens no longer just pays you to walk. Instead, you need to sign up and complete health challenges to earn. For example, some challenges are geared towards you walking more each day, spinning, or even yoga.

 

 

Along with physical activity challenges, they also have lifestyle challenges to help motivate you towards making positive changes, such as improving sleep or monitoring your blood glucose. 

 

 

Once you’ve linked your fitness tracker, your data will automatically be logged towards your health challenges to earn the Cash Rewards. 

 

After you complete a health challenge, you are given a bonus opportunity/spin to earn up to $2. You earn $.25 in Cash Rewards for each week that you finish a health challenge. The most you can earn per month is $2. The Cash Rewards expire if you don’t use them for one year.

Great news! With myWalgreens, you can now choose to donate your Cash Rewards to charity, unlike their previous Balance Rewards program. They stepped up and followed Amazon Smile’s charity program  For some of us, $2 a month adds up and can help out with purchases. But, for others, they may rather donate instead of saving on future purchases. 

Either way, it’s a win-win. 

It’s nice to be rewarded for your efforts towards being active and healthy. 

This is an easy way to help you save money on items you would normally be buying anyway. And – it can motivate you to increase your activity and make smarter lifestyle choices. 

 

Just think of it as walking for dollars.  It’s like having a Walgreens gift card to use, and that helps our budget, right?
