My Experience Using CBD Oil for Multiple Sclerosis Therapy

My Experience Using CBD Oil for Multiple Sclerosis Therapy

June 4, 2020 0 By Omid Tavakoli

With no other options available to me, and my health continuing to go downhill- I began trying various vitamins and supplements to see what would help.

While I did find magnesium helped me relax and sleep better, I was having a new slew of issues that there wasn’t a treatment for:

  • I began having “tingles” that felt like electric ants climbing up and down the back of my neck

  • I started getting very dizzy when laying down in bed- to the point I felt nauseous, and nothing stopped it

  • I started having problems swallowing food

  • I started losing my voice at times- to where I just didn’t have the energy to speak

This was very frustrating to me, obviously, and so it started impacting my mood terribly.

My wife suggested I try CBD since it was all the rage and was touted to help with some health issues.  Even if all it did was reduce my depression, that would have been fine for me.

Legal Disclaimer – I am NOT a doctor, and I am NOT qualified to give medical advice.  I am simply sharing my experience with using CBD for Progressive Multiple Sclerosis.

After searching for information about MS and CBD as a possible supplement, I couldn’t find much. Medication wasn’t helping, so I took matters into my own hands.

My wife spent weeks researching the different CBD options as well as several companies.  She purchased a high-quality CBD that is grown in the US and is US Hemp Authority Certified.  In fact, we can enter the code on the bottle online, and the certificate comes up.

I’m not recommending any specific brand-but do your research and be careful when you buy it, as you want to make sure it’s chemical-free and from a trusted source.

I’m using THC-free oil; we are in Texas, and THC isn’t legal for us here yet. I opted to use oil at first rather than gummies and started with their lowest dose since I didn’t know what to expect.  The next month we ordered double the strength.

Tracking My MS Symptoms to Gauge Efficacy

My wife logged my symptoms and any changes every day for 30 days. She listed all of my symptoms and problems on the front of the journal to rate each one as time passed.

By about day 10 is when we started seeing small changes. Here’s what I found:

  • The first thing I noticed was my dizziness at night was completely gone

  • Then the tingling down my neck stopped

  • Then little by little, I wasn’t straining to speak anymore

  • My wife says it helps with my mood, that I’m not so testy with her.  I haven’t noticed that, but she says she does

  • It makes me tired, so I prefer to take it later on in the day

  • It didn’t help me with swallowing issues, but the difficulty hasn’t gotten any worse-so that’s a plus

CBD and multiple sclerosis

Research, Research, Research

Before we decided on a brand, my wife called the CBD company to see if they could recommend a dosage for us, because dosages can vary based on your needs.  For example, just to relax or calm anxiety, you would need less than you would need for chronic pain or disease treatment.

They told her they couldn’t give dosage recommendations, so she dove deep into researching and asking others that used it for suggestions. She really couldn’t find examples of people with MS using CBD for their disease therapy.

The CBD we are using is not cheap, so we switched companies and ordered gummies instead due to the costs. Shortly after taking the gummies, I could tell the difference in a negative way.

Some of my issues came back, like the neck tingling and my voice going away. This isn’t to say the CBD oil was bad; it was just a blend that didn’t help me with my health problems.

When we switched back to the oil from the previous company-it quickly rectified my problems in less than a month.

For Me, CBD Helps With Some MS Issues

So with trial and error, I found that for me– oil works best and from the company we picked.  We trust them and my wife heard about them from a news special where they showcased how a special blend of theirs helped a little girl with her epilepsy.

Because we know it works, we have stayed with that CBD brand even if it is pricier than many out there.

This is my health that I am taking it for, not just to relax, so I need to think of it as natural medicine.  I pay more than that for my meds, and at least with this, there haven’t been negative side effects like the medications (poisons more like it) that I take for my MS.

If you decide to try it out, I recommend tracking every day to see what changes you notice.

Everyone is different, and there are so many different options out there.  Of course, before you go out and buy some-do your research and find what is best for you.

I wanted to share my experience because I couldn’t really find much in my search for knowledge about MS and CBD.

Hopefully, this answers questions you may have.

No, it’s not a magic pill for all problems, like it won’t help me walk again, and I’m aware of that.  But the plusses it comes with have been very helpful for me.
